WSN Announces Cubing Technology for the Wine Industry

Dramatically Increases Shipping and Packing Efficiencies

San Francisco, CA, July 21, 2003 - WSN, a technology and marketing company focused on the wine industry, announced today the completion of a cubing functionality module. Cubing technology essentially converts order data into package data, making it easy for fulfillment warehouses to handle complicated orders involving several products of different shapes and sizes. Reconfiguration of orders regularly poses problems for fulfillment warehouses, as well as requiring significant amounts of time to handle properly.

"Ninety five percent of all packages are fairly simple, containing two 750 ml bottles, or a case of the same product, for example," said CIO Neal Barnett. "It's the last five percent that make cubing so important."

With WSN's cubing technology, even a complex order which combines, for example, three magnums, two 750 ml bottles, ten 375 ml bottles, two books, four Riedel glasses and one gift basket all to the same address will automatically be split into the minimum number of packages necessary, based on packaging available at the facility to which the order is routed. Derek Lin, chief engineer on the project, added "We've tested numerous order configurations and combinations based on existing products, and have been pleased to see correct reconfiguration in every single case."

WSN is the first among major wine industry technology providers to offer this specialized functionality, which will play a critical role in future WSN applications.
